Vermont Slot Machine Ownership
In the state of Vermont, residents are subjected to a strange law when it comes to owning slot machines. Only those that were manufactured before the year of 1954 are legal. Anything after that is strictly prohibited, and will get you in a lot of trouble with the state. Although this law is not as bad as some other states, it is safe to say that it is a bit silly. Of course, it is better to be able to own older slot machines than nothing at all.
Gambling in Vermont
There are not too many states that do not offer any type of gambling. But just like Utah, Vermont is one of those that are still holding off on this. At this time, there are no casinos in the state of Vermont. To go along with this, you will be hard pressed to find a horse or dog racing track either because they do not exist. As you can see, if you live in Vermont you are forced to visit a neighboring state if you are interested in any type of legal gambling. Although there is always a chance that Vermont lawmakers could change this, there has not been any reason to think that this will happen in the near future.
Vermont State Lottery
The state lottery is regulated by the Vermont Lottery Commission. With the lack of casino gambling in the state, the lottery has become very popular over the years. As long as casinos stay out, it is safe to say that the lottery will always be popular among residents.
Since there are no casinos in the state, there is no reason for Vermont to have a special department that oversees this type of gaming. With that being said, the Attorney Generalís Office oversees areas such as raffles, charitable gaming, and bingo.
Overall, Vermont has a strange law as far as owning slot machines are concerned. But when it comes to being able to legally gamble within the state, things do not get much worse for residents.
