Oregon Slot Machine Law

Oregon has a unique law concerning the types of slot machines thatOregon Slot Machines residents can own. At this time, only those that were manufactured before 1968 are legal to own. Anything that is newer than this is strictly prohibited by Oregon state law. While most states allow any slot machine that is 25 years of age or older, this is not the case in Oregon. Since these older slot machines are difficult to find, collectors are usually the only ones who own them.

Oregon Casinos

At this time, there are nine establishments in the state of Oregon that offer the ability to legally play slot machines. While this may sound good enough, the state is actually talking about expanding this number over the next few years. Although Oregon is not primarily considered a big time gambling state, they have several casinos that are considered among the best on the west coast.

The Gaming Enforcement Division is responsible for regulating and overseeing all casino related activity in the state of Oregon. Unlike other states, this division is also responsible for the lottery. As you can imagine, the Gaming Enforcement Division is busy keeping tabs on all these establishments. Luckily, they do a great job year in and year out.

Pari-Mutuel Industry in Oregon

The pari-mutuel industry in the state is regulated by the Oregon Racing Commission. This is one area of gambling in which the Gaming Enforcement Division is not involved. With that being said, the Oregon Racing Commission does an excellent job in this area.

There is no denying that Oregon has a strict law as far as the age of slot machines that residents can own. But they more than make up for this by offering several top of the line casino establishments across the state. If proposed legislation for more casinos is approved, it is safe to say that Oregon will become even more well known within the gambling industry.
