Maryland Slot Machine Laws

In the state of Maryland, there are specific laws about the types of slot machines that can beSlots in Maryland owned by residents. At this time, only those that are 25 years of age or older can be legally owned by a resident of Maryland. The reason for this is that this is the age at which the state feels a machine can be considered antique. Even though residents are legally allowed to own older slot machines, there are not many of these to go around because they are considered antique or collectible.

Gambling in Maryland

Maryland is one of a few states that do not offer legalized slot machine gambling at any locations. Many people find this hard to believe due to the fact that Maryland has several large cities, as well as access to a variety of waterways. With that being said, state officials are looking into the possibility of opening casinos that would offer legalized slot machine gambling. While this is a long and detailed process, the state is investigating the pros and cons of doing so. As you can imagine, opening state casinos could generate quite a bit of tax revenue.

Horse racing in the state of Maryland is quite popular. This is where residents get their kicks since there are no casinos in the state. The Maryland Racing Commission is responsible for overseeing all activity that is involved with the horse racing industry.

In addition to horse racing, the Maryland state lottery is quite possible. Once again, this gives residents something to do since there are no slot machines or other games to fall back on. The Maryland State Lottery Commission is in charge of all aspects of the lottery.

While Maryland allows residents to own antique slot machines, the state is yet to offer legalized gambling in casinos. This is not something that is guaranteed to happen in the future, but state lawmakers are definitely looking into the benefits of doing so. In the meantime, residents will have to continue gambling on horse races and the lottery.
