What a lucky guy! I have hit good on $5 machines, $3600 once, $1600 another, but man, your money goes down fast! Do you play the patterns? I have heard the casinos set their machine up on a certain pattern to pay better during the day and if you by chance pick that pattern and start betting, your odds of hitting are better. What is your strategy other than trying to get the red screens? Any info is appreciated!

Mike: I am sorry to hear that. I was on a bad run myself. But, I have won around $400 each time on my last two trips and Hal has been killing it. I will post some of his observations about the slot play up there later this week.

Hey Jeremy:

Thanks for the info on the VGT bingo patterns! One piece of advice though. I never play less than the max coins on any slot machine. The reason for this is that the jackpot win is multiplied for max coins and you miss out on this if you play less than the max. What do I mean by this? I have hit the jackpot on Crazy Bills Gold Strike. It was a $1 machine. If I had played one coin, I would have won $1,000. If I had played 2 coins, I would have won $2,000. But, I played 3 coins and won $4,000! It is important to know that when they calculate the payback percentages, they are doing so based upon you playing the max coins. So, if you cannot afford to play 3 coins on a $1 game, don't play one coin for $1, play 3 coins on a quarter machine so that you qualify for the full jackpot payout if you are lucky enough to hit it.

Hi! I really enjoy reading your posts. I do most of my gambling at Cherokee Casino in West Siloam Springs, OK. They have the same type VGT machines that you have mentioned several times in your blogs. You mentioned that you were unsure of how the "red screen bonus" is determined and that it was random. I have played these machines extensively and have discovered that the red screens are determined by the bingo patterns, as all of the winning combinations are determined. You have probably noticed the bingo card and numbers that are displayed above the reels. When you hold down the cash out button for several seconds, the machine goes into another mode that allows you to view each bingo pattern, how many credits they pay out, and within how many numbers called to get the bingo pattern. It doesn't tell you the corresponding reel combinations, but after extensive play its easy to figure out. Sometimes the winning patterns come in the form of a winning reel combination, and sometimes on some machines it comes in the form of a bonus game, such as falling rubies, or a claw that drops down, ect. The red screen bonus takes place when multiple bingo patterns are achieved on the bingo card. It begins with the lowest ranking pattern, screen turns red, then the next highest ranking pattern is displayed. Sometimes the highest pattern is given to you in the form of the falling rubies or the claw or pick a pot, etc, after all other winning patterns have been displayed. Is your VGT strategy still working out good for you? I have had some success using pretty much the same strategy, but I have a hard time leaving with my winnings. I have only hit one hand paid jackpot so far though, and that was on a 5 dollar Crazy Bills gold strike machine ( i just call them gold diggers) for 1200 bucks. I was only betting one credit but was thrilled nonetheless. Good luck with your future gambling!
